the Sunflower Fields got started some 19 plus years ago in the Kansas City area. We very much liked making things to decorate our yard. All the items were made from wood. As the holidays changed, the yard would change, also. Valentine's Day, St Patrick's Day, Easter, 4th of July, etc. The yard would be full of decorations with lots of lights. The yard scenes were featured in every newspaper in the local area as well as some magazines. The local TV channel took pictures and syndicated it all over the USA. We would get letters and cards from people that would say, " When I get to feeling down I would take a drive past your place. It would make me forget the things that depressed me. Thank you so much." There were many people that wanted to buy things right out of the yard. That got me to thinking. Maybe I could make these things and sell them. So here we are today in the craft business. You will find out that a lot of our crafts will not be found in other places. That is because we design a lot of our crafts. Lots of care goes into the crafts we make. The sides are sanded and are sculpted for a more natural look. The items are all hand-painted by us so no two are exactly alike. |
